Garrett Hollembeak

CRCST, CIS, CHL, CER, CIC

… and sterile processing. He currently serves as a System Infection Preventionist – Medical Device Reprocessing at Bon Secours Mercy Health. Prior to his current role, Garrett worked for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital’s Sterile Processing Department, where he gained valuable experience as a technician, instrument coordinator, and department manager.

Garrett holds a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University – Idaho and has completed his education in applied health with an emphasis in epidemiology. He has earned multiple certifications, including: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL), Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) through HSPA, and Certified in Infection Control (CIC) through CBIC.

Passionate about patient safety and healthcare improvement, Garrett is actively involved in educational initiatives. He hosts Healthcare HQ’s Transmission Control Podcast, which focuses on infection prevention, public health, and continual improvement across clinical settings. Garrett has been involved in presenting educational sessions about collaboration between Infection Preventionists and Sterile Processing departments.

Garrett’s unique perspective, combining hands-on experience in sterile processing with his current role in infection prevention, allows him to bridge the gap between different healthcare departments and promote best practices in patient safety. His commitment to education and improvement in healthcare is evident through his involvement in various speaking engagements and educational programs.

Jill Holdsworth

MS, CIC, FAPIC, NREMT, CRCST, CHL

…therapist before working as an IP in 2009 and obtaining her CIC after 1 year in the field and becoming a Fellow of APIC in 2016. Jill was the President of the DC APIC chapter in 2014, the 2015-2016 APIC National Emergency Management Committee Chairman and is currently the AAMI Protective Barriers Committee co-chair. Jill is a certified EMT and a volunteer with the Emory EMS program, is certified in sterile processing through HSPA as a CRCST and was the 2022 HSPA Certification Council Chairman. Jill is currently serving on the APIC National Board of Directors and the ASHREA 170 committee. Jill is working in Atlanta, GA as the Manager of Infection Prevention at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
